{Scrapbook Page} There is always something to smile about

So this layout might be one of my favourites at the moment. The background paper by My Mind's Eye is just gorgeous. I've joined in the challenge over at Berry7bleu. Their challenge is SIMPLE PLEASURES together with a beautiful mood board for inspiration.

I was inspired by the florals and colours of the mood board. I've let the October Afternoon Daily Flash card quote be my title - 'There is always something to smile about' which I think reflects the idea of simple pleasures. The photo is of kids goofing around in the backyard - just a typical day. Kids are hard work but I'm so lucky to have them in my life.

{Scrapbook Page} First time at the Grand Prix

This was a fun page to create. I used a lot of new goodies I purchased recently including Studio Calico Print Shop! 6x6 pad and October Afternoon Daily Flash cut outs. I joined in the challenge over at Life.Paper.Scrapbook. Their mood board is just beautiful.

I was inspired by the colours and lettering. I made a feature of the title by wrapping it around the photos.

{Sscrapbook Page} ...Lighting a fire

On my recent scrappy retreat I held a demo on sunbursts for pages and cards. Who doesn't love a sunburst? Such a simple technique but you can do so much with it. I ended up with so many scraps by the end of the retreat I thought I'd put them to good use.

I often have trouble with page titles. I can't seem to come up with a clever one, just the typical '6th birthday' or 'The road trip' or 'I'm calling this something you can see clearly from the photo'. I borrowed a divine book that had lists and lists of great scrapbooking title ideas and quotes. I found myself very drawn to quotes which went to good use in this layout. Yes, it is a photo of my little girl at her new desk but I think the quote gives the page so much more meaning of how I feel.

{Scrapbook Page} These feet are made for walkin'

I'm joining in again in one of my favourite challenges - D-Lish Scraps Mood board challenge. I love using mood boards for inspiration. It gives me ideas and enough freedom to do what I like. I found inspiration from the colours, the feathers and the triangle shapes in the bunting.

I'm diving into the gesso as much as possible just so I can be more comfortable with mixed media. I particularly love my Close To My Heart feather stamps and let's face it - there isn't a flair badge from D-Lish Scraps that doesn't fit a project!

{Scrapbook Page} Wonder

Well, there's a story to this - there's always a story....
I was away recently on a scrappy retreat. My very first. It was fabulous but I was struggling to be away from home and had very little sleep the first night. Little sleep and scrapping makes for major creative block. And I struggled with this page as I grew more tired and grumpy. I left the page midway and went to bed (instead of throwing it in the bin). The next day I came back to it and I was delighted with the result. I honestly surprised myself. I hated that page the day before!

So this is a response to Scrap The Boys challenge of 'Grungy/Messy'. I used the lid of an embellishment container and inked circles randomly. I also inked background stamps messily. Staples and distressed edges I thought also add to the messy effect.

I was very pleased to have found the perfect photo for that science themed patterned paper :)

{Scrapbook Page} Go with your heart

Another layout for you today of my little girl on the day of her birthday party recently. I used the very pretty sketch from SUYS and followed it fairly closely.

I decided to go with a Confucius quote with this layout that is like a life lesson for her. I loved using the small scraps I have left of an American Crafts transparency that has red hearts on it. And my favourite thing is the Close To My Heart zipper trim. My handmade item is a flair from D-Lish Scraps.

{Scrapbook Page} Seriously #fun selfies

I'm back from my first scrappy retreat and I have few pages to show for it! Lots of socialising, a few wines and tons of paper love...

I took a few challenges with me and photos I wanted to scrap and the first I'd like to share is a challenge for Life.Paper.Scrapbook. I love mood boards so this was lovely to create. I used lots for inspiration - the triangular trees, the colours, the feathers and the bold script.

I've framed this page with delightful glitter paper from Close To My Heart. And who doesn't love those Amy Tangerine script words!
