White with 1 challenge - Lavendar Lane

Well, I have to say the White with 1 challenge was a massive challenge for me!

Lavendar Lane is definitely not my thing. Actually, I recently sorted through all my papers to make room for new stock and I got rid of almost all shades of purple.

But I'm not one to shy away from a scrappy challenge :)

Right from the start, I wanted to scrap a black and white photo with this page.

The page turned out quite minimalist indeed.

I used Close To My Heart ink in Pansy to stencil the sun burst.
Then I hand stitched over some of the rays.

Papers were from Hip Kit Club and Close To My Heart.
I added some white tissue paper for a bit of texture.

I inked the XOXO wood veneer with CTMH pansy ink. It came out a little too dark so I hid part of the wood veneer beneath the photo.

How cute is that bulldog clip! Perfect colour too.

My journaling cluster included a sticker journal tab and tissue paper.
I added some stapling to give some texture.

Scattered over the page were sequins, gems and tiny florals.

Thanks for popping by :)

My return with a Stuck?! Sketches challenge

So let's just acknowledge my absence here and move on!!

I have been doing a little scrapbooking and no blog posting.

I've done lots of painting and collage along with the little scrapbooking.
My return post needed to have a page that included a few of my favourite things.

I've played along with the Stuck?! Sketches challenge this month and boy, did I love my return to paper land. I had a ball.

And here is my layout. Lots of flowers, pretty bibs and bobs and some hand stitching.
My papers included Pink Fresh Studio, Simple Stories and Pink Paislee.

I did a lot of fussy cutting - florals and butterflies.
The butterflies were fussy cut from Crate Paper patterned paper.

Some wood veneer to had a little more interest. The title is a Kaisercraft die cut.

And I couldn't leave it without some hand stitching. I just love the texture and interest that hand stitching adds to a layout.

Thank you for checking out the blog. And yes, I will back with more frequent layouts from here on!

Scrapping Clearly challenge

It's been a little while since I've completed a scrappy challenge. And it was great to sit down and do it because let's face it, this time of year is busy to say the least.

I chose the Scrapping Clearly sketch challenge because I LOVED the sketch. So beautiful. Butterflies and lacey bits - gorgeous.

November Sketch

And this is my take....

Because I knew I was going to use lots of colour, I chose to print my photo in black and white.

I added florals and painted some chippy. Instead of using a doily behind the photo, which is what I initially thought I would do, I painted some flourish chipboard green and popped it in behind the top and bottom of my photo.

The Kaisercraft spray mist has such a shine to it - I love it. Final touches were a flair and some sequins (of course!).

Thanks for popping in. See you next time :)

Geez Louise!

So I've been a little absent. You know the drill. Work, family, life.....

I've still been creating but in a different form lately. If you follow me on Instragram then you know I'm a little obsessed with collage and paint at the moment. I've enjoyed letting go and just making some mess on canvas. Very liberating!

But here I am again with a scrapbook page. I approached this one a little differently. I applied some of the things that I've learned about collage to this page. They are subtle differences but it made a big impact for me.

This page is about the day I met an incredibly creative and inspiring woman. A most amazing day spent creating with products I've never used before.

I approached the page messily, NOT me at all!

Staples, scrunched up tissue paper, half-hidden embellies, ink splats (with Bombay India Ink which I am happy to say I'm not scared of anymore!).

As with the tissue paper and tassel, I tried to include lots of texture, adding muslin as a layer, a doily and stapled vellum over one of the patterned papers.

More staples and zig -ag stitching adds further interest.

I've done lots of these things before but this time it was a little more deliberate, thinking of the layers and textures I was choosing.

I had so much fun creating this page. The colour palette I used was inspired by Scrap The Girls challenge this month:

My Creativity Notebook

Hi there!

I'm showing something a little different today - my Creativity Notebook.

I recently bought a very pretty A4 notebook with sections from Typo.

I don't know about you but I have small bits of paper everywhere with notes, lists, inspiration and more. So I thought it would be nice to put them all in one place. (I do have a separate smaller notebook for materials lists for my pages).

I didn't have to do anything to this cover. I simply added my name with thickers :)

The dividers for the four section have pockets also.

I take out my Scrap My Stash boxes of papers and embellishments to use them in this notebook. I created these two boxes because I found that I was buying lots of goodies and forgetting about the stuff I already had.

The first section is for sketches, mood boards, journaling ideas and any kind of paper inspiration.
I stamped the heading and added some embellies to make it pretty :)

The next section is for art and collage inspiration. I am nuts over collage at the moment.
I stamped and cut letters from paper for my heading. Then added some washi tape.

The next section is for general scribbling that I do sometimes. For example, quotes I love, books I want to read and any kind of list. I am a list-taker, that's for sure!

The last section is for organisation. Not necessarily for crafty stuff but for any kind of planning and organising.

This is an example of journaling ideas. I printed out a list I found online, stuck it in and decorated it a little.

Another example is this page where I included my fave D-Lish Scraps mood board and I simply embellished the rest of the page.

So there you have it. My creativity notebook. Here's to being (and staying) creative!

SUYS challenge

Hi everyone.

I'm popping in to share my interpretation of the gorgeous mood board up this month for Show Us Your Stuff challenge.

Lots of bright colours and wood features....

I was particularly taken by the coloured pieces of wood with flowers attached to them so I went with that.

A grid format to my page and machine stitching - both pretty familiar things to me!

Backed onto woodgrain paper, I mounted my photo onto cork which I recently bought in a pack of 6x6 sheets. Very handy. I will definitely try my hand at punching and cutting shaping from these sheets soon. My handmade item is a gorgeous flair button from D-Lish Scraps.

The title was inspired by the writing on the mood board. Placing the title down the left hand side of the photo  also covered a lot of distracting stuff of the photo (let's face it, I'm not a great photographer!)

I added some hidden journaling behind the photo and secured it with a peg - also inspired by the pegs in the mood board.

Mounted onto a strip of distressed patterned paper, I wound a flower stem around some wire and then stapled it the page. I really loved how this turned out.

Thanks for popping by!

I joined in on the Kaisercraft challenge this month - my first time and it was lots of fun. It was a sketch...

And here's my take...

  • Wood veneer - Roamn Clock Face, Leaves - mixed designs
  • Rub-ons - After Five | Borders
  • Collectables - Fly Free butterfly
